Deborah Basden, owner of Bahamas Tastiest Bakery, formally Da Best Yet Bakery, was born and raised in Dundas Town, Abaco, Bahamas. She is the daughter of Delgarno and Viola Newbold. She obtained her primary education from Dundas Town Primary School and then her high school diploma from Abaco Central Secondary. For most of her early career, Deborah has been in the insurance field, however, she decided to go full time into her passion, baking. Da Best Yet Bakery was established and has been nothing but successful over the years. Deborah has had the opportunity to meet so many people, whether it is locals or tourists, who always come looking for her special baked goods.

Because of her vibrant personality, she and her bakery were featured on the HGTV show Caribbean Life. In 2019, after the horrifying impact of Hurricane Dorian, Deborah had to close her bakery after losing everything in the storm; however, that did not stop her from doing what she loved. She started to bake once again from her home, which then led to her re-opening her shop front. The
bakery was renamed Bahamas Tastiest Bakery.

Deborah was married for twenty-seven years to the love of her life, Keith Basden, until his demise in 2005. This union produced five beautiful daughters: Carol, Christina, Cinquetta, Claire, and Chante. She also has four grandchildren: Christopher, Kaleya, Jordyn, and Christian.

Deborah is a devout Christian who loves the Lord. She grew up attending the Methodist church and then The Church of God with her family. There she took ministerial classes, where she became a preacher and teacher alongside her husband. If you ever cross her path, she will always encourage you in the things of the Lord.
