Jovita Charite was born in Freeport, Grand Bahama, and relocated to Nassau as a child, where she continued her primary and tertiary education. Upon completion of high school, she enrolled in Atlantic Technical College and graduated with a Technical Diploma in Computer Electronics. After
graduation, she gained employment with Broward County Animal Care and Regulation as a Computer Data Processor in Florida.
As Nursing was still on her mind, and in pursuit of her passion, she embarked on the journey to gain the skills and knowledge needed by enrolling in Hillsborough Community College, where she obtained her Associate of Science Degree in 2010.
She later transferred to South Dakota State University and completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 2015. Jovita had always found herself embracing the opportunities to help those she encountered. Hence, her decision to venture into a field embodying just that was no surprise to her family and friends.
Jovita has received several awards such as Most Outstanding Student Award for the Patient Care Technician Course, being on the 2014 – 2015 Dean’s List, The 2004 – 2005 United Who’s Who Registry for Executive and Professionals Award, Chairman Award for Leadership, 2018 – 2019 Kiwanian of the Year for Central Abaco, 2019 – 2020 Outstanding Leadership Award from Kiwanis Division, 2019 – 2020 Leadership Award from the Kiwanis Club of Central Abaco for Outstanding Leadership and Contributions to the organization.
With such a bubbly and contagious personality, this enabled her to explore various jobs such as working at Angel Health Care Agency in Florida, Doctor’s Hospital in Nassau, Bahamas, Interim Health Care in South Dakota, and Integrated Medical Centre in Abaco, Bahamas. As a nurse, she is BLS and ACLS Certified with training in Disaster Management.
Nurse Charite’s communication style is easy-going, which allows her to communicate with her patients well. When she is not working, you can find her lending her time, talents, and treasures volunteering with various organizations. Most recently, she demonstrated these key values by volunteering in May 2023 to travel to Kenya, along with a mission group to provide medical assistance to residents of the surrounding villages. She stands firm in her beliefs and her favourite scriptures are
Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me the strength,” and Luke 1:37, “For with God nothing shall be impossible.”
